You have probably realized by now that here at PureNSM.com, we’re in the business of making some of the healthiest supplements around. For 16 years, we’ve been manufacturing nutritional supplements designed to be safer, purer, and more potent than many competing products.
But what exactly do we mean when we say “Pure Supplements”?
Is it simply a sales pitch that companies use to attract unsuspecting consumers? Is it just another meaningless tagline like “All Natural” or “World Famous”?
For many companies, it may be. For us, however, “Pure Supplements” is a motto we take seriously. It represents the philosophy behind how we manufacture our products and what we believe consumers deserve.
Let’s Take a Look at What’s Actually in Your Supplements
Consider a common calcium supplement from a major brand such as Nature Made. You can find these types of products in large retailers such as Costco and Walgreens.
Take a typical 500 mg Calcium Tablet. The front of the bottle tells you that you’re buying calcium and vitamin D. Those are the ingredients you are presumably looking for.
But turn the bottle around and look at the other ingredients. Depending on the specific formulation, you may find ingredients such as:
Maltodextrin
Cellulose
Soy polysaccharides
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose
Cornstarch
Polyethylene glycol
Now ask yourself a simple question:
Is this what you are paying for?
How about a store-brand calcium supplement such as Walgreens Calcium 600 + D Tablets?
Along with calcium and vitamin D, the ingredient list may include substances such as:

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose

I could give you hundreds of additional examples, but I don’t need to.
Do your own research. Pick up almost any nutritional supplement and read the “Other Ingredients” section. You may be surprised by how many substances are included in a product that you thought contained only a particular vitamin, mineral, herb, or other nutritional ingredient.
The question is not whether every one of these ingredients is necessarily harmful. The bigger question is:
Why are they there in the first place?

Why Do Other Manufacturers Use So Many Extra Ingredients?
There is a reason that many supplements contain a long list of additional ingredients.
Manufacturers may use excipients and processing aids to make production easier and less expensive. Certain ingredients can help materials flow through manufacturing equipment, improve tablet compression, speed encapsulation, extend shelf life, improve appearance, or make products easier to manufacture on a large scale.
From the manufacturer’s perspective, these ingredients can make production more efficient.
But what about the consumer?
Does the consumer really care how quickly a capsule was manufactured?
Does the consumer care whether a tablet looks perfect?
Most consumers are interested in one thing: what is in the product and what that product is intended to provide.
Lower Manufacturing Costs Shouldn’t Mean Lower-Quality Supplements
When unnecessary ingredients are added primarily to make manufacturing easier, the manufacturer may save money and time.
But adding more ingredients does not automatically make a supplement better.
In fact, every additional ingredient means that there is something else in the capsule or tablet besides the nutritional material the consumer intended to purchase.

We don’t believe in adding a long list of unnecessary ingredients simply because doing so can make manufacturing easier or less expensive.
It may take a little longer to manufacture products this way. It may require more work and greater attention to the manufacturing process.
We believe it is worth it.
Quality Comes Before Cutting Costs
Many companies focus heavily on reducing manufacturing costs. That may make sense from a business perspective, but it isn’t the philosophy we want to follow.
Our goal is different.
Quality comes first.
We believe consumers should know what they are putting into their bodies. That means paying attention to the ingredients, minimizing unnecessary additions, and manufacturing supplements according to a philosophy of purity.
