Compostable Vitamin Bottles

Compostable Vitamin Bottles Have Arrived!

“Drylabbing” and “Swapplabbing” are two Reasons Amazon Cannot Trust Some Amazon Supplement Sellers.

Introducing the future of packaging

While the average claimed shelf-life of a supplement is 2 years or less, the traditional plastic packagingit comes in lasts up to 450 years. No wonder the plastic waste crisis persists! Local San Diego startup,Invert, set out to address this problem. “There’s a need for packaging that sufficiently protects yourproduct but breaks down in a shorter period of time,” says Invert founder, Jared Koett. After years ofdevelopment, Invert has evolved into an eco-alternative that is protective yet earth-digestible.

Protective by Design

Invert containers and lids are engineered in ISO-certified facilities and have been tested byindependent laboratories for food grade and USP standards. The containers are coated in two differentways to protect against the elements. First, a non-toxic chemical is introduced to the slurry mix (hotwater and paper feedstock) during manufacturing. This additive bonds to the paper fibers giving themresilience to water. Second, a wax-coating is applied to the outside walls of the container giving theman added barrier of protection. The closures, or lids, are made from cork (an inherently water-phobicmaterial) and also dipped in wax. The two together create a container-closure system that withstandslight and moisture. And when combined with supplements that are formulated in a way to remainstable, the overall package and contents are protected from the outside world.

Earth-friendly

Understanding where a product comes from and where it will go is important in terms of sustainability.Unlike traditional plastics, Invert is made from renewable resources. The containers are made frompost-consumer recycled paper, which means no trees are harvested for production. This is a materialalready in circulation being repurposed for a new application. Furthermore, this feedstock is abundantworldwide and price-stable when compared to oil-based plastics. The lids are made from the bark ofthe cork tree. Again, no trees are harmed during this process. Rather, their bark is stripped andprocessed into products like the Invert lid while the tree regenerates its outer covering. Both thecontainer and lid can be readily recycled and/or biodegrade in a fraction of the time it takes plastic. Infact, there’s really no comparison between paper versus plastic when it comes to recycling rates orbiodegradability (see picture below). In 2018, according to the EPA, the recycling rates of the mostwidely used plastics (main polymers in packer bottles), Polyethylene (PET) and Polypropylene (PP),was approximately 30% or less. In the same year, corrugated boxes (the main feedstock of Invertcontainers) was recycled at a rate of 96.5%.

Estimated decomposition rates of common marine debris items
Invert strikes a balance between performance and sustainability. For example, adding wax (whether itbe soy-based or not) prolongs the natural decomposition of the packaging system. Without it,products are more at risk to degradation. Through trial and error, Invert has developed a balancedsystem that is protective and earth-forward. Matched with an expert formulator like PureNSM, who canselect inherently stable ingredients in the appropriate supplement form, the outcome is positive forboth customers and the environment.

A True Differentiator With the Right Messaging

As a brand owner, finding a way to stand out from your competitors and capture a customer’s attention is paramount. Of course, there’s a number of ways to accomplish this through marketing, labeling, bottle selection, the list goes on. However, if we focus on the point of purchase, we’ll notice the majority of brands share a common theme- the plastic bottle. That’s where Invert is different. The presentation is so atypical from anything else on the shelf, it “pops” out, drawing in the attention of the consumer. And once that attention is locked in, the type of environmental messaging that Invert conveys is relevant and powerful. According to Forbes, consumers across all generations—from Baby Boomers to Gen Z—are now willing to spend more for sustainable products. Moreover, nearly 90% of Gen X consumers said that they would be willing to spend an extra 10% or more. The demand for greener products is evident and Invert supplies a solution for your customer.

An Investment Opportunity:

VeriGMP Lab Logistics and Quality
Communication System
100% Compostable Vitamin Bottles
PureNSM Group plans to go public within a year. However we are now raising funds (Equity Crowd Funding) to disrupt both quality communication in the industry with the VeriGMP® system as well as promoting the use of 100% compostable vitamin bottles. Both projects are welcomed by many brand owners. (link to investment plans).

Amazon will eventually catch on and start rewarding quality and it will be easier with the help of VeriGMP.

The story of PureNSM Group started in 1993 when we established our supplement factory. We now have 45,000 sq ft, over $14m in revenue and over $4m in sales from our own brand of supplements. We have a fully GMP trained staff. Certified GMP by UL since 2017 and by NSF since 2014.
